Who is Pilates suitable for?
Pilates is a safe and highly efficient workout for people of all ages, including pregnant women and the elderly. Pilates has been used successfully in the rehabilitation of conditions such as:
- Back and neck pain
- Antenatal and postnatal
- Postural problems
- Pelvic and hip pain
- Post-operative strengthening
- Work injuries
- Chronic pain sufferers
- Neurological conditions, such as stroke or Parkinson’s disease
Why do I need a Pilates assessment?
Your physiotherapist will need to assess your past injury history and current fitness level, then design and closely supervise an exercise program tailored to your specific needs. This exercise program will include movements to tone and strengthen your muscles within the limits of your comfort.
What types of Pilates equipment do you use?
Pilates exercises are done on the reformer and trapeze table, and there may also be some floor (mat) work performed. Both the reformer and trapeze table use various types of springs to provide resistant to movement, whilst floor work may incorporate various exercise aids such as a Fitball™ or weights.
Are the Pilates classes one-on-one or in a group?
We have both options! Our physiotherapists usually start off with a few one-on-one sessions until you are confident in performing your Pilates program. We then encourage you to join our group classes.
Can I claim for Pilates through my private health fund?
Yes! You can claim for your initial Pilates assessment and individual or group classes through your private health fund.
